Semiconductor Technology Center Roadmap
PTC is developing a Semiconductor Technology Center in Bengaluru, India to expand its capabilities beyond consulting and provide customers with access to practical technology development, manufacturing, and equipment evaluation resources.
Developmental FAB & Process Development
As part of this initiative, PTC plans to establish developmental wafer fabrication and process development capabilities utilizing an innovative modular fabrication platform from InchFab. This capability will provide a flexible environment for technology development, prototyping, process validation, workforce training, and pilot manufacturing activities.
Planned capabilities include:
- Wafer process development
- Prototype wafer fabrication
- Technology demonstration and validation
- Process characterization and optimization
- Research and development support
- Pilot line development activities
- Workforce training and technical education
- Specialty semiconductor, sensor, and MEMS development
Semiconductor Assembly Manufacturing
PTC has or is further developing in house semiconductor assembly manufacturing capabilities to support engineering builds, process development, pilot manufacturing, and production ramp activities for selected package platforms, including:
- TO-252
- TO-253
- TO-254
- TO-247
- TOLL
- QFN
- BGA
Equipment Demonstration & Qualification Center
The Technology Center will also feature equipment from leading semiconductor assembly equipment manufacturers, allowing customers to:
- See equipment operating in person
- Evaluate equipment performance and process capability
- Qualify equipment and materials
- Validate package assembly processes
- Conduct engineering builds and process development activities
- Conduct pilot manufacturing and process trials
- Reduce technical and investment risk before production deployment
Building Practical Semiconductor Capability
The objective of the Semiconductor Technology Center is to provide customers with access to consulting expertise, developmental fabrication capabilities, assembly manufacturing resources, and equipment evaluation capabilities through a single integrated platform.
This approach enables PTC to support customers from technology development and process validation through manufacturing implementation and production readiness.
